Ben Smith reports, “The bi-partisan group of online activists pushing to liberate debate footage from copyright restriction, and more broadly to remold presidential debates for a new age, says it will involve itself in other debates in the off-years, and gear up for 2012. The conservative activist Grover Norquist is also joining the group, he said last night.”
The Arena asks policy and political mavens: “For the final debate, what advice would you offer McCain, Obama, Bob Schieffer or the television audience?”
Michael Calderone suggests, “Schieffer — and viewers — may also benefit from a format that is more likely to prompt real exchanges between the two candidates. Instead of standing at competing podiums (as in the first debate) or wandering around a town hall stage (as in the second debate ), the candidates and the moderator will be seated together.”
